Keek: The New Video-Based Social Networking Site

Keek is a new social networking site which allows its users to share videos with friends and followers. Users can upload video updates called “keeks” through their webcams or use the Keep App through Android and iPhone devices. You can reply or comment on keeks through so called, “keekbacks” which are also in video form. It is a unique video sharing Tips on starting a small business Picturessite and is rising in popularity since its beginning in 2011.

Keek was founded by Isaac Raichyk, in his hopes of delivering a fast and easy video social networking experience. The company is based in Toronto, Canada and employs around 30 people. Only being a little more than a year old, Keek has received astounding reception being called the “Micro Youtube”, “Instagram of Video”, the “Twitter of Video” and is seen pretty much as a combination of all major social networking sites.

What makes people so hooked on Keek is that it gives people the opportunity to share their thoughts in video instead of written status updates. Each keek can only be 36 seconds long which makes Keek videos much more unpolished and in a sense authentic as compared to vlogs on YouTube which have more time to be prepared, recorded and edited. Keeks are usually uploaded directly from a phone or webcam and although content is less polished, it is more reactive and faster. Aside from making keeks and keekbacks, you can also send private keeks, subscribe and follow other users and see through Klusters what topics are trending. There are also several other features that give users an interactive experience. Some experts believe that Keek will be a new wave of social media technology.

As of August 2012, Keek had 250 million page views, 21 million monthly visits and a total of 6.4 million keeks uploaded. It almost has 10 million users and as of January 2013 receives a traffic rate of 1 billion monthly pageviews, 75 million monthly visits, 15 million unique monthly users, 4 million monthly user-generated videos and around 200,000 users joining Keek on a daily basis. The growth spurt is unbelievably large within just a few months.

Since Keek is still a growing company, it is best to start using the social networking site in its early stages to gain advantage over users who will join much later. Keek can be a great marketing tool for yourself as a person and for your business endeavors. It is an excellent way too to keep in touch with your friends and the people who matter to you.
